MEDICALIZED BIRTH
Labor is the process that leads to the birth of a baby. Labor usually occurs on its own.
Humanized birth is only possible to the extent that the woman knows her body, is familiar with the process of pregnancy and childbirth, that is, knows the stages and anticipates what each one implies, knows some methods to naturally control the pain, but more importantly, you are not afraid to experience it because you know it is part of this moment.
Humanized childbirth is focused on women, so it is allowed to decide in which position it tolerates contractions, there is medical supervision and it is not intervened unless it is necessary. Unlike intervened or medicalized delivery, in which the enema, shaving, medications to accelerate labor and episiotomy can be used.
In the same way, it is important to respect the natural time, not all women dilate with the same duration. Some women who have previously given birth do so in 3-4 hours while primigents need 24 hours of delivery or even more.
At Emory Women Clinic we want your baby to be born in a cozy environment in the company of the couple or another chosen person, so that the delivery is pleasant and can live it as the special event it is.
We give you the option of a humanized birth or a medicalized birth according to your needs to protect the health of you and your baby.
CAESAREAN SECTION
Most babies reach the world through the birth canal (the vagina). However, in almost a third of cases, babies are born by caesarean section. This means that the baby is removed through an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus.
There are many reasons why a C-section is necessary, which can be planned if your obstetrician has determined that certain conditions exist. If you have any questions about this, ask our obstetrics doctors at Emory Women Clinic, who will answer all your questions.
